MEDIA RELEASE: “The White Flags of Georgia’s COVID-19 Devastation,” 10,000 white flags in Atlanta's Piedmont Park will honor those who passed from COVID.

EVENT: Sunday, January 3, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., The Meadow at Piedmont Park, Atlanta, GA

Atlanta - This Sunday, January 3rd, a sea of 10,000 white flags will honor the lives of each of the Georgians lost to the COVID epidemic, calling out the heartbreaking human and economic impact that COVID-19 and our government's response has had on local communities.

Tell the U.S. Senate: Release COVID care now

Please sign our petition to demand the U.S. Senate and the President provide the testing, health care and contact tracing we need to save lives. Tell your Senator to pass the HEROES Act that includes $75 billion for testing, tracing, and health care to support hospitals and healthcare providers and ensure free access to treatment for everyone who needs it.

Our Goals

Months into the COVID crisis, our healthcare workers and other essential workers still need protective equipment; all of us need free, fast testing and access to health care to bring this epidemic under control. We demand that the President use his power under the Defense Production Act and fairly distribute supplies from the National Stockpile to get workers and communities the PPE, health care and testing we need. The U.S. Senate must immediately pass the HEROES Act including its important provisions for health care, medical supplies and testing.

Who We Are

The Care. test. protect. campaign is a project of a handful of volunteer organizers to bring together the voices of many allied organizations, caregivers, essential workers, patients, families, and advocates.

Care. test. protect. launched early in the COVID crisis, working with the organization Our Stories. Our Health. to bring the together the voices of real people who are living and working through this crisis, demanding a response from our government that matches the enormous sacrifice that people make everyday to care for those who are sick.

Working with national partners , we released a report shining a light on the Chamber of Commerce lobbying the Trump administration against using the Defense Production Act to coordinate medical supply distribution. We delivered signatures from more that 68,000 people to the CEOS of 3M, Honeywell, FedEx, Amazon, and U.S. Bank, companies in the leadership of the the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, demanding that they stop lobbying against the full use of the Defense Production Act and produce the equipment that will protect everyone’s health and save lives.

In October, we joined with Marked By COVID for a National Week of Mourning to honor, remember, and mourn the people we’ve needlessly lost to this disease. As part of this week we helped front line workers demand a voice in keeping their families and communities safe.

Use your voice

Record your message to the President and your Representatives demanding that they use the full power of the Federal Government to fight COVID-19.  Tell us about your day on the frontlines fighting the pandemic. Show us the mask you’ve been reusing for the last few days. Or your sick relative who cannot access the COVID-19 test they desperately need.

Post the video on Twitter using the hashtag #CareTestProtect and send it to us using the form here. Tell us how your life has been affected by the pandemic. Here are some ways to add your voice:

  1. Organize your community: Share your story with your community and ask them to share theirs as well. Tag your co-workers, family and friends on social media urging them to contact the White House to demand that our providers and our communities are kept safe.

  2. Pass it on:  Your story is compelling. Share it on Twitter using #CareTestProtect. Tag co-workers and friends and family so that they share as well.  Sign and share the letter below. We need everyone in this fight.

  3. Keep coming back:  Your next story is just as important as your first. Consider setting aside a few minutes, once or twice a week, to show us the reality of your world and how the pandemic impacts you.
